I agree. When saw this book I was traveling around in europe and thought the cover looked so interesting I had the book store owner try translating it for me from italian. Took me ages to find a copy but when I did was certainly not let down. I do however think that the books have gone a bit down hill. Adored the first one but struggled to make it though the second and eventually gave up. I will however finish the series because I feel like I 'owe it to the books' and I hear the third one is better.
I finally read Hush, Hush, and so excited I did. The author writing is great, I like how she gives you enough but still leaves it mysterious.
