New book: Once (Eve Trilogy Book #2)

This is the sequel to Eve by Anna Carey. It is expected to be published July 3rd, 2012.

PLOT: Sixteen years have passed since a deadly virus wiped out most of the Earth’s population. After learning of the terrifying part she and her classmates were fated to play in the rebuilding of New America, eighteen-year-old Eve fled to the wilds and Califia, a haven for women determined to live outside the oppressive rule of the king of New America. However, her freedom came at a price: she was forced to leave Caleb, the boy she loves, wounded and alone at the city gates. Eve quickly learns that Califia may not be as safe as it seems and soon finds herself in the City of Sand and the palace of the king. There she uncovers the real reason he was so intent on her capture, and the unbelievable role he intends her to fill. When she is finally reunited with Caleb, they will enact a plan as daring as it is dangerous. But will Eve once again risk everything—her freedom, her life—for love?

Brimming with danger and star-crossed romance, and featuring a vivid dystopian landscape, this electrifying follow-up to Eve, which bestselling author Lauren Kate called “a gripping, unforgettable adventure—and a fresh look at what it means to love” is sure to appeal to fans who crave the high-stakes adventure of The Hunger Games and the irresistible love story of Romeo and Juliet.

Scent of Magic (Healer #2) cover reveal

Here is the post from Maria V. Snyder's blog about her almost-ready cover for the sequel to her latest book, "Touch of Power". The new book in the Healer Series is called "Scent of Magic" and is due to be published in 2013.

"Of course the caveat that this isn't final final, but pretty darn close :)   This is the US/Canada editon.  So?  What do you think?  I love the colors. Does Kerrick remind you of anyone??  And there's a slight spoiler for TOUCH OF POWER in the cover copy so if you haven't read the book, you might want to skip that :)"

Here is a copy of the blub from the back of the book:
As the last Healer in the Fifteen Realms, Avery of Kazan is in a unique position: in the minds of her friends and foes alike, she no longer exists. Despite her need to prevent the megalomanical King Tohon from winner control of the Realms, Avery is also determined to find her sister and repair their estrangement. And she must do it alone, as Kerrick, her partner and sole confident, returns to Alga to summon his country into battle.
Though she should be in hiding, Avery will do whatever she can to support Tohon's opponents. Including infiltrating a holy army, evading magic sniffers, teaching forest skills to soldiers and figuring out how to stop Tohon's most horrible creations yet; an army of the walking dead - human and animal alike and nearly impossible to defeat.

War is coming and Avery is alone. Unless she figures out how to do the impossible ... again.

Cassandra Clare answers questions about Emma Carstairs character and dating history

Here is a copy of a recent post from here about Emma Carstairs, the protagonist in Cassandra Clare's new book series, The Dark Artifices:

In the Dark Artifices, what kind of dating history Emma will have? I know that Tessa and Clary had little to know experience in dating, but when you described Emma she sounded more like Jace then any of your other characters, so I was wondering whether she would have some ex-boyfriends or current boyfriends when the book starts.
Poor Tessa! One really couldn’t “date” in the Victorian period. Fortunately she is more than making up for it in CP. So yes, Clary and Tessa, both no dating experience, but Emma has both past and perhaps current boyfriends when the book starts. Who can say? She does threaten a vampire that she is going to turn him into a heap of ashes and use it to stuff a teddy bear for her boyfriend with, but perhaps she’s just talkin’.

Cassandra Clare gives info on The Dark Artifices characters

Here is Casandra Clares run down on some of the characters that will star in her upcomig Shadowhunter Series, The Dark Artifices.

So having run down exhaustively what the Blackthorn kids are named in Dark Artifices, and why, I thought I’d give the kindly fanartists of fandom a break and some descriptions. :)
Helen is described in City of Lost Souls. White-blond curly hair, blue-green eyes (those eyes are a hallmark of the family), petite, slightly pointed ears due to faerie blood in the family.
Mark: Same white-blond curly hair, but he has one blue eye and one gold. Tall, thin, has the same faerie blood as Helen, so rather delicate bone structure. Favored weapon: curved, single-edged blades like katanas.
Julian: Dark brown messy hair, blue-green eyes. No faerie blood here or in the rest of the family on down — he’s only half brother to Helen and Mark. Different mothers. He’s a little lanky, with high cheekbones. Bites his nails. Usually splattered in paint. Favored weapon: throwing knives, seraph blades. Seventeen years old.
Olivia: Brown hair like Julian, the same blue-green eyes. Long lashes and a cupid’s bow mouth. Where Tiberius is extraordinarily weird, Livvy is extraordinarily ordinary, at least on the surface. Underneath she’s peculiar as her brother, but in a very different way.  She and Tiberius are nine months younger than Jules. Favored weapon: poison darts.
Tiberius: Manages not to look like anyone else, which Julian puts down to sheer stubbornness. Black hair and gray eyes. When he and Livvy were born they had the same gray eyes, but hers changed and though the family were sure his eyes would also change color from gray to blue-green they never did. Has the same long lashes and cupid’s bow mouth as his twin sister though. Favored weapon: Livvy will kill you if you look at him funny, so why bother?.
Drusilla: Is only thirteen. She has the Blackthorn brown hair and blue-green eyes, but she is the only one of them to have freckles. Most of the Blacthorns are lanky and tall, but Silla is compact and will grow up curvy and short.
Octavius and Ariadne are so little — Tavvy is only six, and Ari five — but they both have the Blackthorn dark brown hair and blue-green eyes.
The non-Blackthorns:
Emma has golden-blonde hair which she keeps long for sentimental reasons, but usually has braided back or up in a bun for efficiency’s sake. Her eyes are dark blue. She works extraordinarily hard at her training - her body is strong and tough, and she has a bad scar that runs up her right arm, that she’s both proud of and  a little self-conscious about. Telling blonde jokes in front of her is a good way to find yourself in the hospital. “Oh dear, did I just drop that giant broadsword on your head? I guess I did! Must be cause I’m blonde.” Favored weapons: the repeating crossbow, wind-and-fire wheels.
Cristina is Hispanic; she’s from Mexico City and is one of the few Institute kids who has a living parent. She’s got gorgeous black hair, though she keeps a long swatch of it dyed red, and dark brown eyes. Where Emma has a temper, Cristina generally gets angry only if you hurt someone she cares about. Then she smiles sweetly and plans to kill you in your sleep like a ninja. Emma was thrilled when Tina came to the Institute because it meant a girl for her to be friends with, and they’re very close. Favored weapon: chain weapons like surujin.
That’s not everyone in TDA of course, or even all the people the Blackthorns know, but it’s a start.

The Immortal Rules Optioned For A Movie

Thanks very much to Katara for bringing this to our attention.

Julie Kagawas new book "The Immortal Rules" has been optioned for a movie. Here are some of the things (I had to pick and chose a bit because there was ALOT) Julie Kagawa has to say...

Today I get to reveal the NEWS. The BIG NEWS I've been sitting on all week, and am about to explode with excitement.

Palomar Pictures Options The Immortal Rules and Blood of Eden Series

by New York Times Bestselling Author Julie Kagawa

*Cue wild flailing*

Yes, The Immortal Rules has been optioned for a movie!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Now, before the questions start flooding in; this was just finalized last week.  I don't know when they are going to start filming, or even if they are going to start filming.  An OPTION just means that the studio posseses the rights to make the book into a movie; it's not a 100% sure thing that the movie will be made.  I have no say in producers, I have no say in directors, I have no say in actors.  I MIGHT be consulted for certain things, but I might not.

Still, we have an OPTION.  The first step in getting THE IMMORTAL RULES to
the big screen.

New Book: Deity (Covenant book 3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

This is the third book in the Covenants series:

Daimon (Covenant, #0.5)

Half-Blood (Covenant, #1)

Pure (Covenant, #2)

Deity (Covenant, #3)

Deity (Covenant #3)

History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time.

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday—to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"—which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time—she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

The forth book (due out in 2013) is going to be called Apollyon.

Clockwork Princess Prolog Content Revealed (+Sneak Peek)

In a tumblr post Cassandra Clare said that the sory of how Will and Jem met would be the subject of the Clockwork Princess prolog. This also included a sneak peek.

I have — it’s the prologue of Clockwork Princess.
“You are not really dying,” Will said, the oddest tone to his voice, “are you?”

Lionsgate Considering Catching Fire Directors

Eight directors are currently being considered for the job of directing Suzanne Collins, Catchin Fire. Three of these where mentioned in a shortlist article.

The studio has been quickly cobbling together a list of directors who would fit their criteria. According to a source with knowledge of the list who isn’t permitted to speak on the record, Lionsgate needs to find a director with enough credits and accolades to appeal to Collins, who is much more interested in quality filmmaking than box-office prowess. This director also needs to have an even keel; no petulant crybabies allowed. The studio wants to get the sequel, “Catching Fire,” into production by August, and the task will require someone who can wrangle a large ensemble of actors, juggle the demands of a swift schedule and collaborate on a script with Collins and writer Simon Beaufoy.

David Cronenberg
Cronenberg has frequently been offered big commercial gigs over the years, including “Return of the Jedi,” “Top Gun,” and “RoboCop,” only to turn them down for arty, independently produced work, often in the horror genre. Though Cronenberg’s best-known film is still 1986′s “The Fly,” the Canadian director has been making movies for decades, with his most recent work, the adaptation of Don DeLillo’s “Cosmopolis” starring Robert Pattinson, likely to debut in Cannes next month.

Alfonso Cuaron
Cuaron entered the blockbuster genre with “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” in 2004, but despite great reviews didn’t stick with the boy wizard beyond the one film. Rather, he took on ambitious fare within the studio system, including Universal Pictures’ “Children of Men.” The Mexican director recently finished production on “Gravity” for Warner Bros. The film, starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, is about a lone survivor of a space mission trying desperately to return to Earth to reunite with his family.

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu
For Inarritu, joining “Catching Fire” would mark a reunion with his producer from the Academy Award-nominated film “Babel” Jon Kilik, who is producing the “Hunger Game” series along with Nina Jacobson. While “Catching Fire” deals with the heavy themes of rebellion and children-on-children violence, it is still significantly lighter than Inarritu’s most recent work, “Biutiful,” the Javier Bardem-starrer that chronicled a dying man’s attempts to make amends.

Possible August Release Date For The Hunger Games DVD

While the Hunger Games is still doing well in cinemas, talk has already started for the release date on DVD. And according to filmonic.com Lionsgate is thinking of a August release.
Here is what they have said on filmonic.com:

The August date comes courtesy of Amazon Germany which lists The Hunger Games DVD release date for August 23rd. Amazon US and UK don’t have any date listed, but we can probably assume Lionsgate will aim to launch the DVD and Blu-ray at a similar time around the world as they did with the movie itself.
In a recently interview with Collider director Gary Ross said there won’t be many deleted scenes featured in the special features and “there weren’t many scenes that I shot that were cut.” However he said “there’ll be a lot of cool supplemental materials on the DVD, but I don’t think I’ll be putting in other scenes that got dropped.”

Alden Ehrenreich replacing Jack O'Connell as Ethan Wate in Beautiful Creatures Movie

Alden Ehrenreich is set to replace Jack O'Connell as Ethan Wate in the upcoming Beautiful Creatures movie adaption. This is said to be due to scheduling difficulty.
This is what the authors had to say about it...

“Ethan Wate himself would love that Alden goes to NYU – who knows, maybe Link and Ethan and Alden have all ridden in a subway car together? And since Alden’s last project was with Francis Ford Coppola, we are lucky to have him. But most of all – look at that face! Lena will love him!”

Despite the cast change filming is still set to begin on the 16th of April New Orleans, Lousiana.

Possible Warm Bodies Webseries

While reading an article on the Warm Bodies Movie I came across a snippet that I was unknown to me...

Even though the movie rights were picked up by Summit Entertainment in a slew of post-“Twilight” book acquisitions and it involves a similar supernatural romance as that successful franchise, we understand it’s a very different type of movie. ComingSoon.net also asked the actress whether Isaac Marion had been showing any intention of writing more with the characters from Warm Bodies, especially if the first movie takes off when released next February, and learned they might do some auxiliary material for the movie in a related webseries.

And here is some more info on this possible webseries:

"Warm Bodies,’ for him was a unique book - it was his first novel out - and he’s got some pretty cool books that I think some producers are looking at,” she said, "but I know Rob Corddry was interested in taking his zombie character and Isaac wants to take my character and do her backstory, so I think they’re going to go into a few backstories and maybe even make a webseries, which would be really cool. I hear that’s in the works, so that would be awesome.”

Jamie/Jace Rumours Quietened by Cassandra Clare

Rumours have been circulating around the web saying that Jamie has been taken off the role of Jace in City of Bones Movie. Cassandra Clare has posted dispelling these rumours.

Because my ask box is crazy full of questions about this — yes, there have a few (well, one that I know of) articles saying Jamie Campbell-Bower isn’t attached to the City of Bones movie any more.

Jamie is perplexed.
I was perplexed by the rumors as well but I wanted to take the time to check them out completely; I knew they were negotiating Jamie’s contract, but I can tell you after major thorough checking — yes, 100% he is Jace; Lily is ecstatic, I am, the whole team at Constantin is; Jamie has a trainer, he’s been working out six days a week and drinking protein shakes and by all tales told to me looks terrific.
Soon he will look like this.

[i am JUST KIDDING. This will not happen. Breathe.] Here’s Jamie actually talking about his training regimen at 8:50 in this video:

Stephanie, our casting director, is actively casting the rest of the roles — that means auditions, lists of actors, the whole shebang; I got a peek at some lists and was really excited. You never know how things will shake out, but there were some great actors suggested. I’m excited they’re going to audition.
In sum: Jamie is Jace, nothing has changed, sometimes there are weird rumors on the Internet, I try to be there for you to confirm or deny when I can — if I don’t answer right back it’s because I don’t know and I’m checking.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
